New French legislation opens up opportunities for Brits in Brittany

Recent changes in French inheritance tax laws signify that, especially for the British, now is the perfect time to invest in French property.

Inheritance tax will now have a limit of 150,000 euros per child per parent. As most homes in France are in the 200,000 to 500,000 euros range, this will mean that 95 per cent of French people will be exempt from inheritance tax. These changes indicate that French nationals are more likely to buy rather than rent property, pushing up house prices and therefore presenting huge potential returns for overseas investors.

Helping you seize the opportunity, movewithus have discovered a new development in northern Brittany in which to invest.  The development, called ‘La Retraite’, which literally translates as ‘The Retirement’, is a chance to own a  beautifully renovated apartments in this idyllic part of France.

The apartment’s traditional ‘Breton style’ façade is complemented by a traditional Bretonesque courtyard for relaxing and appreciating the serene ambiance. Each of the one and two-bedroom apartments have been renovated to a very high standard and consist of a fitted kitchen, spacious bedrooms, full double glazing and optional under-floor heating in the bathroom.

This unique complex is set in a beautiful location near the medieval town of Josselin in north-east Brittany near the historic River Oust. It is an area that is popular with British investors due to its aesthetic beauty and proximity to the UK. Just 30 minutes drive away is the popular coastal resort of Morbihan and 45 minutes away are local airports which take flights from budget airlines such as Ryan Air and Flybe.

Robin King, movewithus director says, “Brittany has a shortage of properties and is growing in popularity with the French, British and Irish meaning rapidly rising prices. Therefore, we would suggest investment sooner rather than later to take full financial advantage”

With movewithus’ international property expertise and the extensive vetting that goes into every development opportunity that we offer, you can be sure that your investment will be in safe hands. Exclusive to movewithus, the La Retraite development offers beautifully renovated apartments in a tranquil, historic setting and the potential for vast financial returns on your investment – all with the careful and expert guidance of movewithus’ property specialists.
